Suite à la campagne de sensibilisation au programme d’AVN, initiée fin janvier dans le cadre de l’initiative SE4ALL (lire la news), une dizaine de maçons-tôle d’Ouroubonon (Region Boucle du Mouhoun) ont manifesté leur intérêt à se former à la technique auprès d’un artisan maçon VN local.
Une équipe d’AVN Burkina est donc venue les rencontrer afin de les informer davantage sur le parcours de formation à la technique VN et les différentes promotions mise en place pour concrétiser au mieux leurs ambitions. (...)

Construction of the Matam Town Hall in NV has started!

The building will have a total surface area of 561 m2 and will be realised in two stages, the first, comprising 367 m2 to be completed this season. It is the first of several NV buildings in the NV Fouta Project.

The experiences of NV trainees in Benin using the intensified training modules
26 January 2018, by Chloé AdloffIn January, Samuel Rodrigues, international coordinator of technical training at AVN, came to Djougou to run a training module for nine trainees from Benin and Burkina Faso. This module forms part of the intensified training actions being implemented by AVN to accelerate and improve training of NV masons. AVN’s Training Centre reinforced to deliver intensified training
7 December 2017, by Chloé AdloffAt the start of this season, AVN has started the first collaborative workshops to develop training tools and materials as part of the reinforced training activities in place since 2016. This brought together the various actors involved in training, including over 60 actual and potential trainer masons, 15 regional and 8 national AVN staff, and the international coordinators from the Training Centre.

Benin: the first construction site of the season kicks off
13 November 2017, by Chloé AdloffOn November 3rd last, NV masons from Benin started the first construction site of the season in Vanhoui, in the Djougou region.
As part of a Cement Mason Promotion [1], the construction of this vault of 8 linear metres involved the training of two apprentice masons, as well as the initiation of two new artisans as potential Trainer Masons. NV Fouta Workshop: a Nubian Vault project for public markets in Senegal
1 November 2017, by Chloé AdloffFor three days at the end of October, the NV Fouta teams and their technical partners met various actors from the local construction sector at the Maison des Yvelines in Ourossogui, during a planning workshop for the construction of the Hôtel de Département (Town Hall) of Matam.

Mali: A Nubian Vault curriculum at the Centre de Formation Professionnelle of Tominian / CFP-Tom

AVN’s construction methods inspire cement masons from Ouroubonon
30 April 2018, by Chloé AdloffFollowing the AVN awareness-raising campaign, launched in late January as part of the SE4ALL initiative (read our update here), about ten cement masons from Ouroubonon have expressed an interest in receiving training and learning the craft from a local AVN mason.
A team from AVN Burkina travelled to meet them. They gave them further information about the AVN training course and the various offers they can take to realize their ambitions.
