The construction site of the Matam Town Hall using the NV technique was officially opened last week. The building will have a total surface area of 561 m2 and will be realised in two stages, the first, comprising 367 m2 to be completed this season. It is the first of several NV buildings in the NV Fouta Project.

Mali: education and rural at the heart of AVN’s programme
25 September 2017, by Chloé AdloffOn September 15th last, AVN-Mali was invited by the Prefect of Dioïla Circle to take part in International Literacy Day, in the presence of M. Mohamed Ag Erlaf, Mali’s Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and National Languages.

Climate Chance: the mobilisation of non-state actors for the climate

For this second meeting particular emphasis was placed on the state of climate actions in favour of African countries, and, more widely, other countries of the global South.

A new office for AVN-Ghana
30 October 2017, by Chloé AdloffAVN-Ghana’s new office in Garu was inaugurated at the end of October, in the presence of around a hundred official guests (representatives of the District, regional chiefs, NGOs and other local actors). Over a year after the start of the first NV projects in this region, the construction of this office formalises the promising deployment of the NV market in the North-East of Ghana.

NV Fouta Workshop: a Nubian Vault project for public markets in Senegal
1 November 2017, by Chloé AdloffFor three days at the end of October, the NV Fouta teams and their technical partners met various actors from the local construction sector at the Maison des Yvelines in Ourossogui, during a planning workshop for the construction of the Hôtel de Département (Town Hall) of Matam.

Benin: the first construction site of the season kicks off
13 November 2017, by Chloé AdloffOn November 3rd last, NV masons from Benin started the first construction site of the season in Vanhoui, in the Djougou region.
As part of a Cement Mason Promotion [1], the construction of this vault of 8 linear metres involved the training of two apprentice masons, as well as the initiation of two new artisans as potential Trainer Masons. The NV Maison des Yvelines winner of the low-carbon Green Solutions Award
20 November 2017, by Chloé AdloffNovember 15th last, during the COP23 meeting in Bonn, AVN received the low-carbon building prize from the Green Solutions Awards / Construction21, for the Maison des Yvelines project in Ourossogui, northern Senegal.

AVN’s Training Centre reinforced to deliver intensified training
7 December 2017, by Chloé AdloffAt the start of this season, AVN has started the first collaborative workshops to develop training tools and materials as part of the reinforced training activities in place since 2016. This brought together the various actors involved in training, including over 60 actual and potential trainer masons, 15 regional and 8 national AVN staff, and the international coordinators from the Training Centre.
